Naringal Station

Picture
Naringal Station was voted Top 52 Weekends Away in the nation, GoodWeekend, October 28, 2017. Something we are truly proud of!
Naringal Homestead offers the perfect escape for your special getaway…to indulge, relax and get lost in time. Book the entire luxurious homestead or shearers quarters for a group getaway with family, friends or work colleagues. Naringal is an iconic property in the Western District, Victoria. It is a privately Australian owned working farm, the current owners are 4th generation farmers, running a mixed enterprise consisting of sheep, cropping and tourism.

The Rowe family owned Naringal for 170 years. William Rowe originally settled at Naringal in 1841 and the original homestead site by the creek was thought to be built in the late 1840's. The original slab hut has been rebuilt and remains a landmark today, along with the family cemetery that was first used in the 1860's and is still in use..

The double brick homestead (c.1904) has since been completely renovated. It is situated on the highest point of the property with distant views across the district.

The luxurious homestead comprises seven bedrooms (4 king, 2 queen, 1 room with 3 singles). Each bedroom has its own modern bathroom and a split system for heating and cooling. The sprawling homestead has a large drawing room, study, dining room with a modernised butler’s kitchen and a children's playroom. The homestead has efficient heating throughout. The informal living area encompasses the kitchen with an incredible fireplace by which you can enjoy a glass of red! The main kitchen has a traditional 4 oven Aga (converted to electricity) and a large falcon, enough ovens to whip up a country feast or fine dining extravaganza! Fine catering is available on request.

Corporates welcome and catering is available.

Naringal is set in a famous Edna Walling designed garden with a modern touch. It has a tear shaped pool, diving board and spa (solar and gas heated), pool house and mod grass tennis court with lights.

The pool house provides a splendid entertaining area, with its large fireplace and barbeque. It boasts quality ceiling speakers inside and out, with indoor and outdoor volume control - plug in your device with a headphone jack (ipads, ipods, phones, etc.).

A short stroll from the homestead is Naringal's Shearers Quarters; set to launch in December 2020 this facility will comfortably accommodate a further 23 people making it perfect long and short term stays. Boasting a huge kitchen/living area with arguably the best fireplace in the district, 6 bathrooms and full laundry facilities to suit Naringal’s shearers quarters are a home away from home; ideal for large scale accommodation needs.

Enjoy countless activities at Naringal Station. The trout fish are abundant in the huge dams, the walks are spectacular along the Naringhil Creek. Bike riding is safe for the children along the laneways of the property. See a large woolshed and shearer’s quarters. Visit the original old slab hut and cemetery.

Naringal Station is a magnificent property, where you and your friends will have a unique experience!

We, being a family of 11, spent a fantastic weekend at Naringal Station early December. We were met by Sally and Alistair, the very affable owners, who showed us around the historic mansion and then left us to enjoy the peace, quiet, and all the place has to offer. We are talking spacious rooms, bedrooms all with private ensuites, air conditioning, splendid views, pool and spa, mod grass flood-lit tennis court, pavilion with BBQ, fridge and views over the pool and countryside.History is everywhere, from the mansion itself to the original slab hut built in the early 1800’s and the nearby private cemetery.  It was a brilliant weekend and there was something for everyone; fishing, swimming, tennis or relaxing!  The historic homestead is well equipped and very well appointed and is a perfect place for large groups to enjoy some time away from the city rat race.

The elegance of the 1900's is complemented by modern amenities in the homestead at Naringal. Our stay combined old-world charm and grandeur, with marble ensuite bathrooms and a heated spa and pool. Plenty of open fires, including an outdoor facility on the deck off the pool house, enhanced the rustic charm of distant views of rolling hills and farmland. We felt like we were on a movie set. We had many choices for dining, both internal and external, and the huge kitchen, complete with Aga stove, gave lots of options for cooking. The kids loved the outdoor experience, where they could roam freely until dusk settled beautifully on the valley. We’ll be back very soon!

Naringal was beyond our expectations; a paradise for kids and adults. So much to do we didn’t know where to start, fishing, tennis, swimming and walking through the beautiful surrounds. We will definitely be back.

Naringal proved to be the perfect venue for our family to celebrate the 80th birthday of our ‘matriarch’. We spent an absolutely delightful long weekend, revelling in the mix of natural and man-made beauty of the Naringal property.

Inside facilities are plentiful if you have a crowd to feed.  Two fridges, generous storage and plenty of kitchen equipment allowed us to prepare several large festive meals. 14 people were seated with ease, without running out of plates, glasses or cutlery!  The pavilion, with it’s view onto the stunning garden can not be faulted as a place for celebration.  A grand piano in the elegant sitting room makes this a heavenly place to make music. We loved long walks around the property, exploring the creek with its large boulders, admiring trees,  and visiting the historic cemetery.

There is just so much to do at Naringal, whatever your age!

Naringal is a special part of Victorian history. Sally and Alistair, thanks so much for sharing your home with us.  We can’t wait to come back.
