Lismore is the nearest town to Naringal Station and you can reach it in 15 minutes. Your closest bakery is here along with a basic supermarket and pharmacy. Just 10 minutes past Lismore you'll find the Darlington Pub. Established in 1841, it is a great place for a meal.

20 minutes away in Skipton you'll find a good supermarket and pharmacy. Hollywood comes to town at the Mooramong Homestead built in the 1860's. Well worth a visit when open. Spot a platypus in the Mount Emu Creek, a breeding ground for these unusual and fascinating mammals. The 53km long Ballarat - Skipton Rail Trail is great fun for cycling enthusiasts and walkers alike. Explore the Widderin Caves under the extinct Mt Widderin volcano just out of Skipton.

It dominates the 3rd largest Volcanic Basalt Plain on Earth and can be seen for 60 kilometres in all directions. It is located 1km west of the township of Derrinallum, on the Hamilton Highway. Walks to the summit are available every Sunday 1pm - 4pm and the brand new visitors centre will open in November. The walk from the car park to the crater rim is 2km return and takes about an hour. There is an extended walk around the crater which adds an extra 3kms.

You can visit the Police Camp Historic Precinct which includes an old bluestone police station lock-up and court house. Relics of Smythesdale's gold-mining history can be found at the Jubilee Mine Historic Reserve, 11 kilometres south of town on Jubilee Road. It is one of Victoria's best preserved gold mining sites. Relics include old cyanide vats, mullock heaps, brick walls, and water races rusting in the silence of the bush.
Enjoy a meal at the famous Court House Hotel and find your own treasure at the local antique furniture store. A Country Market is held on the third Saturday of every month, 9am - 1pm.
